Section 1: Location Section 2: Validation
For the past two months we have featured articles on receiving optimal results from your Thermal Imaging Counter by considering installation locations and how to validate your count data. This final section of the three part series focuses on analyzing your facility’s traffic count data using calculations. Not only is it important to have accurate information, it is just as important to know what to do with that information once collected.
Part 3: Calculations
Based on application and facility, specific calculations can be performed to analyze data collected from your system. A common calculation for retailers and librarians is a conversion ratio comparing the total number of people entering the facility to the number of transactions performed:
Total Transactions ÷ Total Customers = Conversion Ratio
For retailers, the average dollar amount of a sale is a common calculation used to compare the total sales volume to the total number of transactions. This average sale calculation can then be compared to the average sale distribution for a more realistic view of sales potential. The average sale distribution is calculated:
Total Sales Volume ÷ Total Customers = Average Sale Distribution
Another useful calculation using your people counting data is to determine your top sales representatives using a sales representative conversion. This calculation compares an individual sales person’s total transactions with the total number of people entering the store.
Total Transactions of Sales Representative ÷ Total Customers = Sales Representative Conversion
