Selecting A People Counting System for Your Student Union

The 2016 Annual ACUI Conference and Expo is only days away. The expo provides plenty of opportunities for delegates to interact with companies from across the country to learn about the latest trends. SenSource will be showcasing the latest in people counting technology and analytics software for student unions. Student unions run off of a strict budget yearly and people counting technology doesn’t always rank high in precedence, although it definitely should. People counting technology works behind the scenes, many people don’t even know it’s there but, the job of people counting is greater than many may realize. By understanding the traffic in specified areas of the student union the facility can better accommodate those areas and restructure how the facility is run. student unionsDavid Kidd, Director of Information Technology at the Rhatigan Student Center at Wichita State University said, “It has been very interesting so far to see when our busiest days/times are. We’ve also learned some things we had never really thought about until looking at the data. A good example would be traffic at what we considered our ‘front door’. We have learned that this isn’t really used as a primary ‘entrance’, but a primary ‘exit’ from the building. We see more entry traffic at other doors that we’ve really never thought about or paid much attention to before. Having this type of data really gets you to thinking about how we can use this to make us better.” In order to properly implement a people counting system student unions must first define their problem and figure out what their goal should be. Once they have assessed their situation they will need to find a supplier to help install and implement a solution to meet their objective. Finally the student union is able to assess their solution and begin making better business decisions with the data that is given to them from their new people counting system and Vea Analytics Software. The 2016 ACUI Expo will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd and Wednesday, March 23rd. Please stop by booth #304 and see how SenSource technology can benefit your student union.
