In our latest video, we show you everything that’s included when you purchase an outdoor people counter as we unbox it together.
This device uses the same highly accurate 3D stereo video technology as its indoor counterpart, but is housed in a robust, outdoor-rated enclosure, expanding counting applications into the elements.
Inside the package, you’ll find:
- a sensor
- patch cables
- a safety cable
- sensor mounting hardware
- an optional PoE injector
You’ll receive an instruction sheet with QR codes to the full installation manuals. It also includes contact information to reach our Technical Support team to finalize your setup.
Let’s take a closer look at each of the items in the box. The sensor is housed in a waterproof, outdoor-rated enclosure. It includes a preassembled waterproof cable connector to attach your network cable as well as a membrane vent to allow air flow between the sensor and the mounting plate.
The included mounting plate makes it easy to install the sensor directly to a ceiling. The device slides into the plate and is screwed into place.
On the back of the sensor, the green sticker indicates which entrance or location the sensor is programmed for. This is very important when installing sensors at multiple locations within your building.
There’s also a white sticker with an arrow to note which direction the sensor is to be mounted. You want the arrow to be pointing inside the building.
Now, let’s take a look at the mounting kit. It includes a mounting plate for installing the sensor on the ceiling. It’s designed with several through-holes, arc slots, and a 1/4″ thread adapter to ensure high flexibility when attaching it to the ceiling directly. The mounting kit includes various screw types for the appropriate ceiling material.
To use the waterproof cable connector, you’ll need to disassemble the two ends, run the cable through the cap, then through the watertight flange, and plug it into the connector.
The last items in the box are for performing a short cable pre-communication test. If your switch is PoE, you’ll just need one patch cable and connect the sensor to your network switch. If your switch is not PoE, you’ll need the PoE injector and a second patch cable to connect to your switch.
That’s everything you need to install your outdoor people counting sensor and begin counting foot traffic!
